After two years in the planning the UK leg of the 2010 SPEA FIM Trial World Championship, the biggest, the most important and the best motorcycle trial competition series on the international calendar, took place at Nevis Range, Fort William, in the  Scottish Highlands from 25 to 27 June.  It was the first time since 1992 that Scotland has hosted a stage of the World Championship series.

As a major focus for both country and rider sixty of the World’s best riders from fifteen countries around the globe descended on the Scottish Highlands for two days of awesome and hotly contested competition for valuable points towards the 2010 World Pro (male only at Fort William), World Junior (male and female) and World Youth (male and female) titles.

The superb venue that sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis proved to be the perfect stage for round four of 2010’s eight event  global series, with the inaugural three-day event being declared a real success across the board. The combination of the permanent facilities at the ski and mountain bike resort and the surrounding unrivalled natural trials terrain helped L+M Events deliver what is being regarded as one of the best Grand Prix events the championship has seen in its thirty five year history.

The natural sections plotted by Martin Lampkin provided a unique challenge for the competitors and brought out some superb riding that was warmly appreciated by the assembled crowd who enjoyed the atmosphere of this incredible location. The UK’s only mountain gondola allowed the fans easy access to all parts of the course and provided them with unrivalled views of Lochaber and the Scottish Highlands

In 2011, for the second year in a row, the UK World Trial held at Nevis Range, Fort William, was declared a huge success by the FIM - The World governing body of motorcycle sport, the ACU - the British motorcycle federation, the riders, the teams and the fans alike. The two very different days of action were greeted warmly by the large crowds that attended the event.
